Crushing and Sorting: The solar panels with aluminum frames and glass are removed into the shredder. The shredder tears the solar panels into strips. Next, the material enters the crusher. The crusher breaks the material into small pieces of 1-2 cm. Through negative pressure feeding, these small pieces will enter the fine grinder. If the size of the ground material is unqualified, return to the fine grinder to continue grinding. Qualified size enters the air separator. Metal powder is screened out from one side of the air separator, with plastic and a small amount of metal on the other side. These plastics and small amounts of metals go into an electrostatic separator, which separates pure plastics and metals. Finally, different types of materials are screened and sorted. These materials can include glass, copper, silicon and plastic.

The components in solar panels consist of good quality glass, aluminium frames, silicon, copper and silver paste (used for the printed conductors on each cell), all of which (up to 95%), can in principle be successfully recycled.
